PLANNING YOUR WEDDING AT ST. NICHOLAS ABBEY

We hope the information presented below provides you with the initial details necessary to determine if St. Nicholas Abbey is the ideal venue for your wedding. It is meant to serve as a guideline; please contact us with any questions or requests that may fall outside the details below.  You can also view our FAQ and Venues sections for more information.

Rental fees are an integral part of our fundraising efforts.  They go directly to support St. Nicholas Abbey’s restoration and preservation initiatives.

WEDDINGS OF 2-10 PERSONS

Keep it simple yet unforgettable; enjoy an intimate garden ceremony and champagne reception on the grounds of the historic Great House.

Ceremonies of this size can be held in the gazebo on the Mango Tree Lawn, under the swaying trees fringing the Croquet Lawn or your preferred location within the property.

For the reception, we recommend champagne and canapés on the Café Terrace. A buffet brunch or sit-down lunch can also be accommodated by the St. Nicholas Abbey kitchen (using our menu) or with one of our preferred caterers.

A host will be on hand to take guests on a tour of the great house and provide information about the heritage of the property and historic artefacts currently on display.

Weddings of this size are held during daytime operating hours.  Space will be reserved for your wedding, but use of St. Nicholas Abbey is non-exclusive, and other visitors may be present on the property.

The venue fee* for a wedding of 2 to 10 persons is $500 USD plus VAT (17.5%).

*The venue fee includes: traditional flowers placed within the great house and rum bond and use of tables & cushioned chairs for receptions on the Café Terrace. Please note the terrace can be covered by awnings (at additional fee) in the event of inclement weather; no tents or flooring are necessary for an event held in this location. For receptions held in other locations, tents, flooring, tables & chair rentals will be necessary.

All additional costs inclusive all catering and alcohol are extra to the venue fee.

*For a wedding of this size, a wedding planner is not typically necessary; our Events & Weddings Team will be happy to liaise with you on recommended vendors and coordination of wedding day details. For weddings requiring additional logistics beyond our existing facilities or that may interupt our daily operations, we request that a wedding planner’s services be utilised, and additional fees may apply.

WEDDINGS OF 11-25 PERSONS

Enjoy a beautiful garden ceremony on the grounds of the historic St. Nicholas Abbey Great House, followed by an intimate reception with your closest family and friends.

Ceremonies of this size can be held in the gazebo on the Mango Tree Lawn, under the swaying trees fringing the Croquet Lawn or your preferred location within the property.

For the reception, we recommend champagne and canapés on the Café Terrace; a buffet brunch or sit-down lunch can also be accommodated by the St. Nicholas Abbey kitchen (using our menu) or with one of our preferred caterers (buffets are recommended). The reception may also be held in the Sandbox Tree Courtyard or on the Mango Tree Lawn.

A host will be on hand to take guests on a tour of the great house and provide information about the heritage of the property and historic artifacts currently on display.

The venue fee* for a wedding of 11 to 25 persons is $75 USD per person, plus VAT (17.5%).  For an event of this size held on Saturday, the venue fee starts at $3,000 USD, plus VAT (17.5%).

The venue fee includes: traditional flowers placed within the great house and rum bond and use of tables & cushioned chairs for receptions on the Café Terrace. Please note the terrace can be covered by awnings (at additional fee) in the event of inclement weather; no tents or flooring are necessary for an event held in this location. For receptions held in the Sandbox Tree Courtyard or on the Mango Tree Lawn, a tent and flooring are highly recommended, and table and chair rentals are necessary.

WEDDINGS OF 26-45 PERSONS

Hold your ceremony under majestic palms swaying in the afternoon breeze, or by the light of the evening's first twilight.  Enjoy a champagne and canapé reception, catered buffet dinner and dancing under the stars to the rhythm of a live band.

Ceremonies of this size can be held in the gazebo on the Mango Tree Lawn or under the swaying trees fringing the Croquet Lawn.

For daytime weddings during operating hours, we recommend having a champagne and canapé reception or simple buffet on the Mango Tree Lawn or in the Sandbox Tree Courtyard.

For evening weddings, a post-ceremony cocktail reception, a catered buffet dinner and dancing can be held on the Café Terrace, in the Sandbox Tree Courtyard or on the Mango Tree Lawn; we can advise you on the best venue for each aspect of your wedding celebration.

A host will be on hand (until 9pm for evening weddings) to take guests on a tour of the great house and provide information about the heritage of the property and historic artifacts currently on display.

Weddings of this size can be held any day of the week. During our operating hours, space will be reserved for the wedding, but use of St. Nicholas Abbey is non-exclusive, and other visitors may be present on the property. For increased flexibility in your planning, we recommend holding your event on Saturday (day or evening).

*The venue fee for a wedding of 26 to 45 persons is $125 USD per person, plus VAT (17.5%).

*The venue fee includes: traditional flowers placed within the great house and rum bond and use of tables & cushioned chairs for evening receptions on the Café Terrace. Please note the terrace can be covered by awnings (at additional fee) in the event of inclement weather; no tents or flooring are necessary for an event held in this location. For receptions held in the Sandbox Tree Courtyard or on the Mango Tree Lawn, a tent and flooring are highly recommended, and table and chair rentals are necessary.

WEDDINGS OF 46-80 PERSONS

Share your vows in a romantic ceremony at twilight, followed by cocktails with the floodlit great house as an incredible backdrop to your reception.  Enjoy a catered buffet dinner or keep it simple with an elegant canapé reception and dancing.

Ceremonies can be held in the gazebo on the Mango Tree Lawn or under the swaying trees fringing the Croquet Lawn. Reception venues include the Café Terrace, the Sandbox Tree Courtyard and the Mango Tree Lawn; please see Ceremonies & Receptions for more details on venue configuration numbers.

Tours of the house may be offered for groups of 25 dependent upon guest numbers; a host will be on hand until 9 pm to provide information about the heritage of the property and historic artifacts currently on display.

Weddings in this range are held on Saturdays.

The venue fee* for a wedding of 46-80 persons iis $150 USD per person, plus VAT (17.5%).

*The venue fee includes: traditional flowers placed within the great house and rum bond and use of tables & cushioned chairs for receptions on the Café Terrace. Please note the terrace can be covered by awnings (at additional fee) in the event of inclement weather; no tents or flooring are necessary for an event held in this location. For receptions held in the Sandbox Tree Courtyard or on the Mango Tree Lawn, a tent and flooring are highly recommended, and table and chair rentals are necessary.

All additional costs inclusive all catering and alcohol are extra to the venue fee.

Due to its country location, St. Nicholas Abbey is not subject to noise restrictions, however functions must finish no later than 2.00 am.

 

Requirements

For parties of this size, we require that a professional wedding planner be retained to manage the logistics necessary.

A wedding of this size has several intrinsic requirements due to the nature of the venue. St. Nicholas Abbey may require that persons hosting these events supply the following:

  • Tents and Flooring
  • Lighting (both event and additional security lighting for the parking lot and walkways)

  • Tables & Chairs
  • Generators
  • Catering Kitchen Facilities
  • Set up and Clean Up Services

WEDDINGS OF 81-120 PERSONS

Following your ceremony on one of our two expansive lawns, enjoy cocktails, music and dinner under the stars.

Ceremonies can be held in the gazebo on the Mango Tree Lawn or under the swaying trees fringing the Croquet Lawn. Reception venues include the Sandbox Tree Courtyard, the Mango Tree Lawn and the Croquet Lawn; please see Ceremonies & Receptions for more details on venue configuration numbers.

Tours of the house may be offered dependent upon guest numbers; a host will be on hand until 9 pm to provide information about the heritage of the property and historic artifacts currently on display.

Weddings in this range are held on Saturdays.

 

The venue fee* for using St. Nicholas Abbey is $175 USD per person, plus VAT (17.5%).

*The venue fee includes: traditional flowers placed within the great house and rum bond, one security guard and our standard property lighting, inclusive dramatic lighting of the great house.

All additional costs inclusive all catering and alcohol are extra to the venue fee.

LARGE WEDDINGS 121 - 350 PERSONS

Create a once in a lifetime event for both you and your guests within the historic grounds of St. Nicholas Abbey.  Large weddings are held on the Croquet Lawn, located opposite the Great House on the eastern side of the plantation. It is an ideal location to host a large-scale wedding reception with incredible ‘wow factor’.

With ample space to customize your ceremony and reception venue to your specification, anything is possible on the Croquet Lawn.  Surrounded by swaying sugar cane and majestic palm trees, it is cooled by the trade-wind breezes that run through the plantation.  With the floodlit Great House and formal gardens as a backdrop, it is indeed a magical setting.

Large weddings are held on Saturdays when St. Nicholas Abbey is closed to visitors.

The venue fee* for a wedding of 121 to 350 persons is $175 USD per person, plus VAT (17.5%). Please note that this per person venue fee is indicative of our very large and more complex wedding set up's and we encourage you to get in touch to discuss your personal requirements for a comprehensive custom quote. 

*The venue fee includes: traditional flowers placed within the great house and rum bond, one security guard and our standard property lighting, inclusive dramatic lighting of the great house. Tours of the house may be offered in groups of 25 dependent upon guest numbers; a host will be on hand until 9 pm to provide information about the heritage of the property and historic artifacts currently on display.

Holding a wedding on the Croquet Lawn has several intrinsic requirements due to the nature of the venue, and must be completely self-contained. Access to other areas of the property become difficult after nightfall, so facilities like bathrooms and kitchen space must be set up for the Croquet Lawn parties. St. Nicholas Abbey requires that persons holding these events supply the following:

  • Tents and Flooring
  • Lighting (both event and additional security lighting for the parking lot and walkways)
  • Portable Bathrooms
  • Tables & Chairs
  • Generators
  • Catering Kitchen Facilities
  • Set up and Clean Up Services

All additional costs are extra to the venue fee.
